Maintaining the code to support older versions of gcc is becoming a nightmare as the language constructs supported by older version are so dated! Also, gcc 4.8 itself is 4 years old now and seems like a good baseline to move to.
Does anyone actively use an older version of gcc to compile x265? If so, could you please respond and help us understand why your tool chain cannot move to newer versions? Thanks, Pradeep.
