This statement probably depends on your individual setup. The Debian Edu project uses Xsession.d and XDG profiles intensively on their workstation systems and with those x2goserver-xsession runs out of the box. Not sure about Ubuntu though. Excuse us, if we cannot not test every possible setup. We rather depend on all of you, testing the setups and giving precise reports (including patches would be optimal) so that we can adapt the code to everybody's needs.
