Just for your knowledge... For the Debian distribution packaging we as
the Debian X2Go Packaging Team (I am in a dual role as I am upstream
developer and packager) we use the source tarballs from

http://code.x2go.org/releases/source/x2goclient

I would prefer that as well.
The other problem is the version freeze a month before Mga2 becomes stable.

So it would be better to build from tar balls, that are hopefully in a stable
state.
I am bound by Mageia packaging policy here.

Same applies for Debian packaging policies. The x2goclient tarballs should always be in stable state.
