Yes. Looking at http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-macosx/x2goclient/
it seems that x2goclient-3.99.2.1.dmg ist the current Mac OS client we
have available.

No, just try crashing the client in the ways that have been described
here. To sum them up:
- stopping/rebooting the server
- interrupting the network connection:
- "soft" via ifconfig ifacename down/up on the server
- "soft" via ifconfig ifacename down/up on the client
- "hard" by pulling the cable
- activating the client-side screensaver and waiting a few minutes
