x2godesktopsharing is happy with x2goserver >= 4.0.0.0 IIRC (see debian/control).
x2goserver-desktopsharing requires x2godesktopsharing (>= 3.2.0.0) and has files that were shipped with older versions of x2godesktopsharing.
People shall be guided towards installing x2goserver-desktopsharing and that pulls in the x2godesktopsharing tray applet. That's the underlying idea.
