Hmm . . . I'm not sure.  What happens if you change the compression
setting on the x2goclient from 16m-jpeg to 16m-png-jpeg? - John

Better change the compression to something like 16m-png without any jpeg in there. jpeg has the property of reducing the color-space locally which gives the typical artifacts. And while that sometimes works for pictures, its rather annoying for typical desktops with lots of sharp lines and edges.
