Error is still the same. No response from the server.

  x2goclient --broker-url=http://localhost:8080/plain/inifile

I have just installed x2gobroker-daemon from the nightly builds as is. Without any configuration, you should be able to contact the broker by this command: If you install x2goclient and x2gobroker-daemon on the same machine. Will the above x2goclient command work?
