Does this happen with other Gtk apps? Are you running with an Nvidia card? I 
had to install VirtualGL and run some application through a proxy to get them 
to work.

vglrun -c proxy xterm -ls

      I have run into some random problems with the x2go server crashing when I 
invoke programs, sometimes vi, sometimes synaptic.
