Take one of the examples provided with xalan and compare the project settings, in your case especially "Link" (Category: Input). The text field "Object/library modules" should contain references to the xerces and xalan libraries. The missing symbol "XMLPlatformUtils::Initialize(void)" is part of the xerces library.
