Hi Brian,
RedHat 8 has a newer version of GCC and newer libraries. You need to
rebuild Xalan from source code, using your particular version of GCC. You
will need to build Xerces as well.
I would suggest you download the Xerces 2.2 source package and the last
Xalan release candidate source package, rather than build with Xerces 2.1
and Xalan 1.4.

Hi,
I'm having a problem installing Xalan on a Red Hat Linux 8 box.
I have installed/extracted Xalan-C_1_4-linux.tar and
xerces-c2_1_0-linux7.2gcc31.tar.
I have added
/usr/local/xml-xalan/c/lib:/usr/local/xerces-c2_1_0-linux7.2gcc31/lib
to LD_LIBRARY_PATH
and /usr/local/xml-xalan/c/bin
to PATH
If I try to run Xalan I get the following error:
Xalan: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.4: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory.
Is this some type of dependency problem caused by running rh8 instead of
rh7.2?
Can anyone recommend a version of Xalan compatible with rh8?
Thanks,
Brian
