No, it does not contain the patches.  However, some of the patches are not
compatible with SP5, because some implementation classes have changed.  In
particular, the new version of XTREE is not compatbile.  I don't know about
any others, so you might want to do a diff to see.

Thanks for the response. I don't think Service Pack 5 of Visual C++ 6.0
contain Dinkumware patches (at least not all of them). We recently ran
into this problem (performance related) and had to update the template
classes (fstream and sstream). Can any body confirm that SP5 contains
Dinkumware patches?

Hi Rahesh,

You need to apply the Dinkumware patches if you're not using Service
Pack 5 of Visual C++ 6.0.  I would recommend that you install the
service pack, unless you have reasons not to do so.

You do not need to worry about linking any of the Dinkumware updates, as
they are all to template classes, so the code will exist only in your
build of Xalan-C++.
