Hi,
You will need to rebuild Xalan.
Look in the build instructions for the steps that describe how to configure the build to include/enable the ICU.
If you are using the XalanTransformer for your transformations, the format number functionality will be installed. If you are interested in the implementation look for 'XALAN_USE_ICU' in the source.

Dear all,
I would like to use the ICU support as I am using the format-number()
function in my stylesheets. I downloaded and installed ICU successfully
(version 2.6.1 which is recommended for Xalan 1.8) but I am not sure whether
I have to rebuild Xalan or not - at least the doc isn't clear to me in this
point.
I also could not figure out how to install the ICU support. Do I have to
implement an interface of the 'FunctionICUFormatNumberInstaller'? In Xalan
1.8 there is no such class (I only found a header named
ICUFormatNumberFunctor.hpp).
