I also noticed which sounds like a new bug: the xsl:output
omit-xml-declaration attribute seems to be ignored. My
xsl contains it (value="yes") and xalan-c 1.4 transformation
did not generate the xml header, as expected, whereas version
1.9 still generates the header ... Anyway, I can leave this
that.
This bug has been fixed in the latest CVS code and will appear in
the next release.

The xsl uses two xsl:key for Muenchian grouping. Nothing
especially tricky, at least for other processors like
xalan-c 1.4 and saxon... I had a look to the xalan-c mailing
list archive and open bugs but found nothing on performance
aspects...
This bug has also been fixed in the latest CVS code.
