Xalan executable gives wrong output

I am using Xalan executable to do a trasformation. I give in the xml and xsl 
files, and the output I get is not the expected xml file. The output is a 
string of all element values in the input xml without any tags. It does not 
give any errors.
 
I am new to Xalan - any help is appreciated.
