Another place to look for examples (sometimes) is in
our API tests. There's a bunch of testing-specific
code that is immaterial, and some negative tests (not
very useful in most real life situations), but also a
number of useful techniques to see how to use various
Xalan features.

Messages are generated via the warning() method of the
current
ErrorListener in the transformer. Create your own
javax.xml.transform.ErrorListener and tell the
transformer about it with
Transformer.setErrorListener(). You may wish to have
a look at
org.apache.xml.utils.DefaultErrorHandler (which
implements
ErrorListener) and either extend it or use it as the
basis for your own
ErrorListener.
