This is a known problem with the 1.1 distribution. Since we will be doing
a new release within the next few weeks, we will not be building a new 1.1
distribution.

It was only on a re-read of the installation instructions that I got the
e-mail address, I'm afraid I've already logged what follows as bug 2985 -
sorry about that. However my problem:

Having recently identified a need to use stylesheets; XALAN seems the
perfect solution to deploy on our IBM-AIX 4.3 box. It was downloaded with
the intention of using the out-of-the-box command line options. I noticed,
on your site, that Unicode extensions were optional when and if
re-building. Having downloaded
http://xml.apache.org/dist/xalan-c/Xalan-C_1_1-aix.tar.gz and configured
the executable and library paths, I tried running TestXSLT , which fell
over when libxalan-c1_1.a couldn't load a dependant library libicu-i18n.a.
I was under the impression that the TAR file was an all-in 'XSLT engine'
and parser with no pre-requisite other than a ratified O/S. Should TestXSLT
work without resorting to a re-build, as a C++ compiler on the AIX server
is not readily available!! For example is it possible to get a copy of the
dependent libraries used by yourselves when building the distribution.

Regards,
JJ
