The Sun JDK1.4 product is a large project with many components and as time nears product ship, components are frozen so that they do not affect other components. So the version of Xalan that did get shipped was the latest version before the freeze, which was 2.2_d10. The downside is that users that need bugfixes after the freeze will need to download a newer version and install it. -Edwin
