While I appreciate the EXSLT extensions in 2.4 D1, I think it unwise to omit the Xalan standard extensions from previous versions. Even if some of these functions are delegated to the same code, it creates a painful and ugly backwards compatibility situation which would result in a great many transformations breaking! A great example is the Xalan nodeset extension...I would strongly encourage support for the existing Xalan functions in addition to their EXSLT counterparts!
