I looked into this a while back, and IMHO Forrest isn't really up to the job yet. Forrest lacks some nice features that Stylebook has, and Xalan uses extensively: - Stylebook lets you predeclare entities in entities.ent, and use them in any xdocs - Stylebook also has a simple macro facility, with <resource-ref idref="foo"/> expanding to an XML snippet defined in resource.xml. - Stylebook lets you define multiple book.xml files, generating different content for local vs. online websites. And there's the fact that Stylebook is 51k, Forrest is 12Mb :) Forrest is currently at v0.4.
