This is because the Makefile.in will explicitly link against libxerces-c22: ifeq ($(PLATFORM), AIX) ALLLIBS += -L$(XERCESCROOT)/lib -lxerces-c22 else ALLLIBS += -L$(XERCESCROOT)/lib -lxerces-c endif The XercesC 2.2 (and 2.3) AIX distributions contains a "libxerces-c" symlink, so I am not sure why this check is here. Legacy? AIX issue?
