It appears that the Xalan community will pass a motion to make Xalan a
top-level Apache project. This motion would need to be ratified by the
Apache board.

The one issue that came up, pointed out by a number of people, was that if
Xalan moves to being a top-level Apache project, it should start with more
than two PMC (Project Management Committee) members.

I'm going to amend the motion that I made, of Xalan becoming a top-level
Apache project. The amendment to the proposal will have a modified PMC
group:
- Brian Minchau as proposed PMC chairperson ( no change from the original
proposal)
- Santiago Pericas-Geertsen as a PMC member (no change from the original
proposal)
- additional proposed PMC members

If you have had CVS committer status to Xalan (Java or C++) for at least
six months, and have been active, and are willing to be a PMC member please
post your desire to the xalan-dev mailing list. We are looking for about
4 more PMC members.

Of course the Xalan community will need to vote on the proposed PMC group.
