Are you able to provide a complete XSLT stylesheet and input XML document that 
demonstrate the problem?  Also, Xalan-J version 2.2 is very old, it's possible 
that this problem has been fixed in a more recent version of Xalan-J.  May I 
ask you to try to reproduce the problem with Xalan-J 2.7.0?
