I've only looked at using GNU for cross-compile in theory - never actually
performed a cross-compile with those tools except with early Linux 2.0 and
Linux 2.1 kernels. My attempt at buiding a cross-compile toolkit for
Linux 2.2 and newer was stalled after 4 months of trial.

Cross-compiling is not easy.

There is no automated means to cross-compile XALAN-C. That said, it may
be possible but full of problems. The automated build tools will not work
unless you have configured and fine-tuned your development environment to
know and support the architecture of the target environment. Even some of
the configure scripts may need custom redesign.

If someone has cross-compiled XALAN-C, some basic documentation of toolkit
setup and use would be of great benefit.

Sincerely,
Steven J. Hathaway
