Gary, Thanks for your input! Xalan-J Release Info - Documentation Layout
The current SVN repository is still fingerprinted for Version 2.7.1 which is now over 3 years old. As I work with Xalan-C documentation, I am also reviewing the format of the Xalan-J documents in order to generate a consistent web-based documentation tree. I am uncomfortable with the Java based StyleBook application for generating web pages. I have designed some standard XSLT stylesheets that will transform the StyleBook markup into XHTML using standard XSLT command-line processors. Since the Xalan projects are removed from the ASF XML project umbrella and are Apache projects administered by the Xalan PMC, I think a new web page layout is in order. The XML StyleBook source content can be rendered using standard XSLT command-line transformation utilities. My biggest gripe with the Java StyleBook web pages is that they are created as fixed-width pages for web browsers. My new XSLT stylesheets render usable web pages that support browser windows of variable width. Browser window widths of 800 to 2600 pixels are well accommodated. My new XSLT STyleBook layout is based on the ASF and the people.apache.org web pages, and logo identity changes as reflected by other Apache projects. XALAN LOGO REVIEW I have created some new logos for consideration and comment. The artwork is based on the African "Xalalm" musical instrument to which the project name is attributed. Note that the change in spelling is appropriate. Xalam is the musical instrument. Xalan is the Apache XSLT software project. See: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XALANC-714 I am offering my services to the Xalan PMC to assist in Xalan-J documentation, but my current effort is for Xalan-C/C++. I understand the C/C++ product but need technical information assistance for updating the Xalan-Java project documents. Sincerely, Steven J.
