One is an XPath location path, and the other is an XSLT pattern. The names
come from the attribute names usually associated with them in XSLT. For
example:

   <xsl:for-each select="*"/>

and

   <xsl:template match="*"/>

For an explanation of the difference between the two, you can read the
XPath and XSLT recommendations, or a good book on XPath/XSLT.

Hi,

This is propably a bit of a silly question, but is there a definition of
these two types of expressions available somewhere?

Thanks,
