You're correct. It was a bit of a hack in the first place, and those don't
usually stand the test of time very well... Nonetheless, it has been a very
popular hack.

Reworking the extension is on my list of to-do's, and yours is the magic
third request. I'll have a chance to code the changes over the long
Thanksgiving weekend.
