Bennett said (offline) that running the stylesheet manually does produce an HTML file which works as expected; it's failing only when loading the XML directly into Netscape.

So the next question is whether Netscape is actually executing the stylesheet... if not, why not (last I checked Netscape _didn't_ automatically invoke XSLT, though that was many versions ago), and if so, whether it's then correctly processing the generated document.
