Like any other evolving software, Xalan may have bugs. It sounds as if you found one which appeared and was then corrected. Since it apparently has been fixed, I don't know what to tell you other than to use a version which doesn't have that problem...
If you really care about the details, searching through the descriptions of closed bugs in Bugzilla and the comments in the CVS logs might let you track down when this was fixed... assuming the fix wasn't a side-effect of something else. Support for old versions mostly consists of advising you to upgrade to newer versions, or to read the Java code and fix it yourself, or to buy a productized version so your licence fee can help fund a support staff... ______________________________________ Joe Kesselman / IBM Research
