I get the following error when I am trying apply a XSL transform ...

I am using 2.5.1D of xalan.jar and xerces 2.4 ...
I thought bug 14578 (http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=14578)
might be relevant so I downloaded
the source 2.5.1 source and built it ...
but I still get the same error ...
can anybody shed some light on what is the problem ...
