Carl, what I mentioned before about transformer.setOutputProperty() concerns what you get from Apache Xalan ( http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/downloads.html ).
I can't say about Java SE6 (is that from SUN?). SUN re-packages/modifies
and ships a version of Xalan in their JRE (as does IBM in their JRE). I
think that SUN only packages the XSLTC version of Xalan, not the
interpreted version.
I can only answer your questions about Apache, but is is worth trying what
I suggested even if it is SUNs version. Please post your success or failure
on this issue to this mailing list. If it doesn't work keep posting to this
mailing list and keep the dialog going. It is still possible that we can
get this property set for you in other ways.
