generally what happens in the incubator is that the podling VOTEs first. once the community considers the release is ready, post a new vote thread to the incubator general list. note that procedurally, this is one vote so mentors may vote in either place. finish the vote here first since few IPMCers are willing to approve a release which the community doesn't feel worthy of release. just FYI anyone interested can VOTE (and indeed are encrouraged too). it's always good to see users and contributors voting +1 for a release. but there votes are not binding on apache. in other words, they don't count towards making the release official. - robert
