I looked at it a bit tonight. I wasn't able to figure out what is going on. I did find that when I set the environment variable MallocScribble I can't reproduce the problem. It makes me wonder if the station list is just the canary, as opposed to the source of the problem.
I am going to see if I can get valgrind to work and see if that sheds any light on the situation. I haven't used valgrind before but have heard good things.
