Regarding the OSX build, I see this list on Travis CI for OSX
versions. We're using "xcode10.2" right now:

osx_image value Xcode version Xcode build version macOS version JDK
osx_image: xcode11 Xcode 11.0 11A420a macOS 10.14 12.0.2
osx_image: xcode10.3 Xcode 10.3 18E226 macOS 10.14.4
osx_image: xcode10.2 Xcode 10.2.1 10E1001 macOS 10.14 12+33

Which means we could now use 10.3 or 11.0 for Travis CI builds. I'm
not an OSX user so I'll defer to others as to whether it's worth the
effort to switch.
