I just reworked the functions called by existing export_trail() that write text logs of stations into ~/.xastir/tracklogs to allow the export of a station and its track to either the current xastir format or to a kml file for import into google earth, google maps, NASA worldwind, or so forth. (for some examples, see the files in http://www.aa3sd.net/tracks/ ) Both export_trail() and the new export_trail_as_kml() have the ability to write a trail for either a single station or for all stations, but the write all stations functionality doesn't seem to be in use anywhere.
For a public service event, or a search, or a search, or another situation where it might be valuable to be able to visualize snapshots of location data through google earth or on a website through google maps, exporting all currently heard stations and their tracks to a kml file might be useful. Where might an appropriate place be to add this in to the user interface? The most similar things are the options for turning on and off of logging on the file menu. Might a write all stations to kml option of some sort go here, or is there a better place for it? -Paul -- Paul J.
