While I like to use wikis for documentation, I much prefer to keep
active discussions on a mailing list. I find I just don't hit wikis
often enough in the day to make them useful for an interactive gig.
I do think Trac would be a good app for a wiki for development and
ticket-tracking.
I agree about wikis getting stale, but it's useful to have a
definitive "spec" somewhere, and using a wiki avoids having only one
person as "Keeper of the Document".
As a compromise, how about: discuss stuff here, and when agreement is
reached on a point, it goes on the wiki page (along with a reason why
it got there, perhaps?). That way, we keep the discussion fluid, but
still have an easy-to-view record of what's been decided, so that new
contributors can get up to speed.

Ok, I've been kicking around a strawman for "Xastir-NG" requirements
capture, and would like to get the ball rolling.
Could I propose (unless anyone has serious objections) that we put
the list of requirement into some other format other than an email
archive. While fine for discussion, I find that the 'core' of the
thread can sometimes get lost (of course you can tell me to get
lost as well ;).
I would be more than happy to create an instance of trac (http://trac.edgewall.org/
) or indeed any other tool that would allow collaborative editing/
working.
Alternatively, I could try and keep a continual 'list summary' on
one long html page. Which attempts to describe the feature and
keep the description up to date with the list discussion.
