I reran;
port install lesstif
make distclean
./bootstrap.sh
./configure --with-lesstif <==== at this step I got this error;
WARNING: unrecognized options: --with-lesstif
Pushing on I did the make etc.;
make && sudo make install && sudo chmod 4755 /usr/local/bin/xastir
But now when I try to launch Xastir I get; Error: Unresolved
