I'm now convinced that MacPorts is the problem. I used to have Xastir
running on Leopard, but because the menus were not showing up
correctly I unloaded OpenMotif and used MacPorts to install LessTif.
So the question begs, how do I bypass the LessTif Installed by
MacPorts (I can always uninstall it) reinstall LessTif some other way
and maybe then Xastir will compile and run correctly.
Does this seem like the thing I should do?
I just don't know how to install LessTif without MacPorts.
Thanks to everyone who are now coming to my rescue. I too have several
balloon flights this summer and Xastir has always been there for me.

Keith,
I haven't had time to chase this, but it is high on my list to get
working, as 2 of my 3 macs are running leopard now. (The other one
is
held back because xastir works!)
I've had working xastir on Leopard since before Leopard was released.
The problem is Macports, not Leopard, almost certainly.
