Curt,
If I understood what the script does, it snags the files from NWS and
places them into the xastir/Counties directory. Very neat.
Ran the script and found that it had put all of the files in place. Now I
need to wait for some "weather" to see if they work.

Look at the xastir/scripts/get-NWSdata script to see what it
currently snags.
As far as where they go, look at the script, or read README.MAPS
which is distributed with Xastir.
