You are correct. Looking up the prefixes list in the ARRL Operating
Manual (admittedly a very old copy) I see that Canada has these
prefixes allocated:
CFA-CKZ
CYA-CZZ
VAA-VGZ
VOA-VOZ
VXA-VYZ
XJA-XOZ
In the RAC database I have here I see VA/VE/VO/VY callsigns.
Our logic is simplistic in that it doesn't check for prefixes that
aren't allocated to the U.S. or Canada (like AMA-AMZ or VHA-VNZ),
plus I'm not sure I knew that VO or VY callsigns had been issued, so
the code's not in there to catch them.
I'll see about correcting that part of the code. Is it likely that
VX callsigns will be issued for amateurs in Canada anytime soon?
