You should be able to use the password you defined for your account
when you installed Ubuntu. If someone else installed Ubuntu for you,
they may not have setup sudo (root) access for you. If that is the
case you should contact that person and ask them for assistance.

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and found the script at
http://www.xastir.org/wiki/HowTo:Ubuntu_10.04
a great help. It worked without error for me, though I do have sudo access.
