It was a "pain", but I reloaded Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on my laptop. Then,
xastir. Still have a few more tweaks to do in xastir, BUT, the
USB-to-serial adapter NOW works! Go figure!
There must be a "feature" (bug?) in version 10.10, perhaps, dealing with
the Prolific PL2303 driver, which I understand is built into the kernel?
I wish I didn't have to downgrade the OpSys, but I didn't know what else
to do.
