Also:  You don't need all of the files selected.  Selecting all of the ones in 
a set slows you down and clutters your screen.  You can select individual ones 
for an area and see which ones contribute the pieces you wish to your display, 
then delete or unselect the ones that you're not interested in.  That will 
speed it up quite a bit too (besides the hints that Tom already gave you).
