Since Minicom is necessary to set the OT3m THC to "USBKISS on",
before Xastir will work, it then becomes unclear if Minicom should
be used to make any other settings whatsoever to the OT3m.
Is it? You should be able to write a Xastir startup script to send this command.
Someone posted a suggestion but I haven't worked out how to
implement it yet.
When using KISS mode, Xastir sends the full frame, including
source/mycall/alias (whatever you configure in Xastir), so the setting
in the OT3m is irrelevant to operation of Xastir.
Thank you for that clarification.
Keep in mind that the OT3m will continue its normal beaconing schedule
even when a port is in KISS mode, so if you have Xastir beaconing, you
may want to disable beaconing on the OT3m.
