There are also libdb issues with xastir on fedora 18. It seems to be for

It might, as long as you make sure not to conflict with the 5.x install.
As long as you build and install into /usr/local/ instead of /usr, that should
be no problem.
The long term solution, of course, is to get Xastir working properly with 5.x.
If anyone cares to help...

Why not 4.5 or 4.8?
I"m running 4.8 on this OpenSUSE-12.1 system.
