You can also tag a !Shriek! on individual stations via a Nickname comment to establish a group, restrict the View to just that !Shriek! and then Auto-Zoom the window to keep all viewed stations in ... well ... view. It amounts to tracking multiple stations in a single window without inventing a UI just to specify the group.

!Shriek!s are my extension of the !SN! used by The Spotter Network to "group" their APRS users. !Shriek!s can be assigned by a station directly in their own comment (like !SN!) or can be defined via nickname (similar to a TACTICAL assignment) at the local viewer.

See also the Shrieks entry at http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/menu:view for more details.

Cool feature!

For Xastir we can assign Tactical calls to stations (locally or can transmit
them out to others), which I do during public service events a lot, then set
Xastir to only show tactical calls. This is nice to get rid of the other
stations in the map view that are not part of the event. Unfortunately map
zooming/panning is manual, but for any particular event I usually set up the
one view to cover the whole area, then start up another Xastir, fed from the
first, that I can use to zoom in on individual stations. It would be much
nicer if I could do all of this (and more) with one Xastir instance.
