ECW files can also be massaged to georeferenced GeoTIFF (better than JPEG for geospatial data) by GDAL's "gdal_translate" or "gdalwarp" programs, if you build or acquire GDAL with ECW support. But as I said, of the file formats listed, only shapefiles are *directly* supported by Xastir. All of the other formats listed require conversion to something else if you want to use it in Xastir. > On 09/02/13 19:13, Liz wrote: > > I've got a choice of formats for CC licensed maps from Geoscience > > Australia. > > My advisor is on shift at present so can anyone advise which of the > > following freely available formats would be best to download? > > > > ArcView shape file, May be imported into MapInfo, 1.58MB > > ER Mapper Enhanced Compressed Wavelet (ECW), 3.31MB > > ESRI personal geodatabase, 2.29MB > > Georeferenced PDF map, 4.0MB > > Keyhole Markup Language (KML), 1.43MB > > MapInfo Native Format, MapInfo table file, 1.47MB -- Tom Russo KM5VY SAR502 DM64ux http://www.swcp.com/~russo/ Tijeras, NM QRPL#1592 K2#398 SOC#236 http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?DDTNM echo "prpv_a'rfg_cnf_har_cvcr" | sed -e 's/_/ /g' | tr [a-m][n-z] [n-z][a-m] _______________________________________________ Xastir mailing list [email protected] http://lists.xastir.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/xastir
