I've been putting these files on the Sourceforge tracker. The colour schemes are unconventional and will be revised after I get some trained advice on mapping colour schemes. Some instructions are on the wiki http://www.xastir.org/wiki/HowTo:MAPS#Australian_Maps and I would really like somebody to test the instructions and comment on improvement. This is because getting downloads from Geoscience Australia is quite frustrating. I have not described every single step of the process and would appreciate knowing if the summary is adequate for others to follow.
