The FGD is needed only for collar trimming.  It still works, but its 
absence has nothing to do with whether the map will show up in the chooser.

And the map won't display until it's recast as an 8-bit pseudocolor image,
because Xastir's GeoTIFF format doesn't support 3-band RGB images.
