Using gentoo this end,and some time back the devs decided that the lang
profile should be selected to reflect where you actually are & type of
language used. Personally I think this was force users to set a legible
system in my case I have 2 selections that reflect my position in the
world ;ie;en_AU.utf-8 & en_AU ISO-8859-1 of which I use the former.
I also had the missing maps syndrome ,but 2 cvs updates has eliminated
that problem.
I use a dvd with the maps for my little spot on the globe, & use this in
preference the relying on online maps.
