Direwolf 1.2 Beta E is out and it's a fantastic TNC for APRS and has native support for Linux's GPSd now.

Be sure to read the Rpi Guide and the User Guide has some really good information in it as well.

I want to set up APRS for really cheap on a rasberry pi with xastir. I have
a transceiver and a rasberry pi. What else do I need? Is there a cheap
sound card solution with PTT (ex. a CM108 sound fob)? What GPS could I use
to mount on the car for cheap? I think I will get a display too and mount
that in the car to see where the other hams are.

Thanks,
